Medical Centres
Symbion Health's aim is to establish a network of conveniently located, comprehensive and purpose-built medical centres across Australia to provide primary health care and family medicine to communities. As outlined in our Charter of Care, we believe that the appropriate management style is one where the clinical independence of general practitioners is recognised and upheld and the doctor-patient relationship is paramount. Doctors who practise in our medical centres are able to retain their roles as family doctors and primary carers, and they are free from the day-to-day administrative burdens of running a medical practice. This means that without the time constraints associated with managing a business, doctors can concentrate on providing superior patient care. Each centre will accommodate general practitioners and a range of support staff, and may include nurses as well as a variety of ancillary services such as physiotherapy, pharmacy, optometry, pathology and diagnostic imaging. Our role is to resource, facilitate and assist in the efficient management of each medical centre by providing technology, capital and administrative support. All medical centres will be accredited by Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL), and incorporate standards set by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. This includes standards relating to patient confidentiality, freedom of choice of doctors and ancillary services.
